CAMP

Adrian is back from two weeks of camp. He went to Camp Toccoa in Toccoa, GA. Camptoccoa.org The camp was originally a US Army paratrooper training camp during World War II.

We picked him up at 9:30 on Saturday morning; we were on time only to be told we were not expected so early. He had to make sure he said goodbye to everyone. Once in the car he took us to see the waterfall in the picture. He had quite the adventure he walked the rope, zip-lined and a mini bungee jump (sitting down). At night they had dances and camped out a few times. The best thing is the smile on his face, you can tell he is happy!

He is thinking about going back next year to be a CIT, (Counselor in Training). The only problem is he is not sure he can survive 4 weeks without a phone, computer etc. We will see!
Next year I want to go to camp! He got to walk the ropes, the zip line, a mini bunge jump and they hiked everywere. The kids that he met go every year and Adrian just fit right in to the group.

5 Nuns

Sisters Mary Catherine, Maria Theresa, Katherine Marie, Rose Frances, & Mary Kathleen left the Convent on a trip to St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and were sight-seeing on a Tuesday in July. It was hot and humid in town and their traditional garb was making them so uncomfortable, they decided to stop in at Patty McGuire's Pub for a cold soft drink. Patty had recently added special legs to his barstools, which were the talk of the fashionable eastside neighborhood. All 5 Nuns sat up at the bar and were enjoying their Cokes when Monsignor Riley and Father McGinty entered the bar through the front door. They, too, came for a cold drink when they were shocked and almost fainted at what they saw. (SCROLL DOWN) too cute not to forward...................................................................................................................................................

I found this picture and could not help but laugh out loud. We are in Addies room and we were getting ready for our night at the theater to see Young Russ in the play "Oliver". For those who do not know Russ had the lead role in the play for the Bristol Theater Company and the whole family attended one of the many shows.
The Girls were having fun getting all dressed. I remember Julie was surprised that I actually got Miss Wren to put a couple of hot rollers in her hair. Miss Addie was just plain silly. We all loved the pink boa scarf. What a wonderful memory.

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a wonderful day and a wonderful weekend.

Our weekend started early on Friday, I took the day off and Adrian and I went to town, Atlanta. We decided to take the Marta in and just get off and see what we could find. We drove into the train station and jumped on the train. We started by getting out at the “Atlanta’s Underground”, took the train to the MLK stop and looked for a gallery "Eye Drum Gallery". We found it but it was not open and so we got back on the train, got off and took a bus to "Little Five Points".
Harrison always talks about the best pizza in town are at Little Five Pizza so we decided to go for lunch. This is an establishment that plays Harrison’s kind of music, the employees are all pierced and tattooed and they make wonderful pizza. It was worth the trip and Adrian was just thrilled to be able to say to Harrison, hey I know all about Little Five Points. Terry met us in town for a trip to Lenox mall and then we went back home.

This morning the whole family went to church. Tonight we are having Lamb and the whole Easter Dinner. I love weekends like this.

Happy Easter

Surprise and Happy Birthday

I turned 50 on Friday, it was a wonderful birthday. When I got to work and my office was filled with balloons and fun stuff like a monkey that sang the Beatles birthday song, a silly hat and a dozen individually frosted cupcakes.
Terry made me dinner, we had chicken marsala, a bottle of wine and music, Frank Sinatra, Joni Mitchell and Eric Clapton. The cake was wonderful a very pretty chocolate cake, with candles. We waited for the Harrison to get home from work so everyone could eat cake and ice cream.

Then on Saturday we were going to dinner with Lewis and Debbie. When we got to the restaurant I got a big surprise, there in a private room was the whole gang! It was pretty cool and a wonderful surprise. I was welcomed to the 50’s club by Jeannie and Steve…………..
Debbie found the picture of “Madame Judy”.

Happy Birthday Adrian

Adrian turned 15 on Monday!

Do you remember turning 15?

Terry and I have been bugging Adrian about reading so Adrian asked me if the "Cat in the Hat" was acceptable. So I decided to buy him some books for his birthday along with a charactors from the books. I think I will have him give me a book report on each!

Terry and his broken hand!

Terry broke his hand last weekend (Sunday), he walked around with a big swollen hand and did not go to the doctor until Wednesday. Even with me nagging him for three days, wow he is stubborn. The doctor sent him to a surgeon right away and this morning he had surgery. He is fine and other than having his hand in a stint for a two weeks and then a cast for 4-6 weeks he will live! I could not help snapping a couple pictures of the patient before they rolled him in to surgery. What style!

It's the little things

Coming home is wonderful. After a long 10 days and I am still not totally thawed out from the shock and the loss. It is the little things that make it a good day! Today I slept late, Terry and I went out for coffee (I love my Starbucks) and we went to Costco. We did our shopping and came home, once home Adrian asked me to help him make some brownies, I cleaned out the refrigerator, freezer and the pantry. We made dinner and sat on the couch watching Mythbusters. It has been a perfect day!

Jeff decided the that he and the kids needed to keep busy while waiting so he got a poker game going. Look at the expression on the kids faces. They were all into the game. This was Coopers first big poker game. I think we have some poker players in the family.

Daddy - June 29, 1933 - January 11, 2009

This week we celebrated Daddy's life. I had the opportunity to spend 49 years with my Dad, my mentor and one of my very best friends. It does not get better than that!
I looked around at us his wife, brother, children, our spouses, step children, grand children, great grandchildren, nephew and friends. Dad leaves a wonderful legacy.
I am most happy that he met Patrica and she gave him love, adventure and fun for the last 14 years of his life. This made Mom happy of that I am sure. Dad was the eternal optimist and loved to laugh. Even in very difficult times we can find comfort. In this family humor is never in short supply. Chris is one of the funniest people I have ever met and as we (Chris, Julie, Spencer, Randy and me) sat with Dad, Chris or Spencer decided to tell Roland (Pepe) jokes. I sat there and laughed out loud and thought: Roland is enjoying this time with us! I already miss seeing him, our times of just hanging out, our dinners together and calling just to check in on him and Pat.
Daddy, thank you for our time together and you will always be in my heart! I love you!
My life is fuller because of what he has taught me over the last 49 years and I am blessed to be his daugher. I miss you Daddy!
Click on this link for Julie's eulogy and his obituary, she made us laugh, made us cry and she spoke of the love that we all have have for Dad! http://goyettefamilycircus.blogspot.com

Homidas Goyette

Homidas is my Great Grandfather. He was in the State Militia Troop 8 from 1902-1906. When I made Dads book I did not have these pictures. Cousin Janet found my blog link on Julies blog, e-mailed me and she sent me these pictures, see flicker. They are old and scanned but they are great. As I find additional pictures of our family I will update everyone. Thank you Janet!

Side note, what I have always found funny and different is that both my Great Grandfather Goyette and my Pepe Forand (Airplane Pepe) were both named Homidas. Evidentially a common name way back when!
